Whilst I suffer to think of wonderful costumes (and no, I don't hate the
gaudy ones) are bought be people the wrong size/shape to wear them and
they just sit in boxes except for occaissional gloating and display.
Costumes are meant to be put on parade.

There's a web page up which purports to tell you what your name
would stand for if you were a cyborg and it were an acronym:
http://www.brunching.com/toys/toy-cyborger.html

I started to post this just to the spin list, but the names of
the crew came out too well to pass up:

Biomechanical Lifeform Assembled for Killing and Exploration.
Artificial Violence and Observation Neohuman.
Journeying Electronic Negotiation and Nullification Android.
General Artificial Neohuman.
Vigilant Individual Limited to Assassination.
Cybernetic Artificial Lifeform Limited to Yardwork.
Transforming Artificial Replicant Responsible for Assassination
and Nocturnal Troubleshooting.
Digital Android Yearning for Nocturnal Assassination.
Synthetic Organism Optimized for Logical Infiltration and
Nullification.

There may be a piece about Blake's 7 on Radio 5 Live tonight (Sat 15 April) in
'Late Night Currie'. The programme starts at 10pm and runs until 1am. I've no
idea when the B7 piece is likely to be, but it should feature our own Steve
Rogerson.

That one fits best, I think. And then, of course, there are also:

Transforming Robotic Android Viable for Infiltration and Sabotage
Synthetic Electronic Replicant Viable for Infiltration and Exploration (You
can't enter more than seven letters)

What with Travis actually being a cyborg, I suspect that we have stumbled
upon his real name here.

I have to say I thought this week's episode, while still entertaining, was
the weakest in the run so far. Was it produced in a hurry does anyone know?
It seemed under-rehearsed, even the normally excellent Michael Keating didn't
sound as sharp with the script this week. Though I did like this bit with
Avon:

"I'm very susceptible to low temperatures… I've got a weak chest"

"The rest of you's not very impressive"

It just seemed to lack something for me - there was no subtext this week,
just a very camp story about android doubles. All that bit with the mutoids
(who remind me of the fembots from Austin Powers) and Servelan's sheepskin
rug seemed a bit too tongue-in-cheek for me.

Does anyone also know if there's any truth in the rumour that Terry Nation
planned to introduce the Daleks to this series?

And the sensors can be used to locate where you are in the building, and
release specific targeted drugs. Oops, wrong thread.

And here I was thinking it was Lambkin & .... (oh, dear, opposite of
Hart. A hart is a stag, a stag is a deer .... Bambi .... Got it)
Lambkin & Thumper.

What's that? I see. Yes, given the way Lambkin & Thumper let Blake get
eaten by wolves at his trial, I can see why Avon insisted they change.

I should point out that exactly the same effect can be achieved with
swipe cards. You just need to put an electronic lock on all the internal
fire doors, all the labs, and most of the offices - as was the case at
one of the companies where I was interviewed for a job about 12 years
ago. One of these days I'll work that system into a story.

It might be a case of the person who pays the money gets to chose. But it
strikes me that if a large number of people want to collect costumes not for
wear, they could, in some way, club together to "save" and at appropriate
times "exhibit" these treasures.

You could for example offer shares, of an initial value of say £50 each, buy
a costume (or 10) and see how it goes from there. The obvious difficulty is
that of
custody / transport costs, but if people are interested I'm sure those
issues can be worked through.

Totally agree, but you get more precision with the locator system in smart

Basically, however long you want it to last. Some Federation ships were
barely an hour away from the invasion point at the end of 'Star One', but
that's just about the only reference.

One of the first fan stories I had published ('Kriegspielen', in Star One,
which I think is no longer available from Judith Proctor) covered
Liberator's return to the colonised galaxy and their alliance with the
Federation fleet. Liberator had been running back from Star One for a
month. The aliens were slowing down as their intergalactic drives ran out
of juice. No major engagements had yet been fought. However, there's no
canonical evidence to support that scenario, just as there's none to deny
it. Any calculation of the duration of the war has to depend on assumptions
about ship speeds, distances etc that can't be meaningfully derived from the
series. So, as usual for B7, raise x to the power of y, subtract the number
you first thought of, and divide by Squirble's Coefficient. That's about as
close as you can ever get.

(Ah, but - you say - if it took the mighty Liberator a whole month to flit
back from Star One, how come some Fed ships were only hours away? Ah well,
I say, that minefield didn't get there by itself, did it? And who says
they'd finished laying it?)
