Maybe someone should come up with an "irony" emoticon?

But all good comrades know that self-criticism is something to be savoured,
as something that brings enlightenment and deliverance from evil fascist
ideologically codified notions of social inequity.

Oh my. This just popped into my head:
- Neil Faulkner as Avon! On the other hand, considering his socialist
leanings and working-with-the-workers, he should be Jarvik. (-8
  Or Blake.

Well, of course, he was misinterpreted. Tarzan? Tarzan was a doormat,
especially for women. "Tarzan, dear, could you come over here and kill
this lion with your bare hands?" "So sorry, Tarzan darling, but I seem to
have wandered into that death trap you warned me about. Do be a sweetie
and take it apart, will you?" "Do you _mind_, Tarzan? You are bleeding
all over my dress. Just collapse over there, will you?" "Look, dear,
I'm sorry you're facing ten to one odds and don't _dream_ I'm not feeling
grateful for your getting into this little fix just to save my life, but
_don't_ think I'm going to pick up one of these weapons and give you a
hand. Fighting monsters in your job. Besides, I might break a nail."
and the famous, "Oh, very well, if you're going to be like that, I'll do
something, so long as it's not too stressful. Do you think screaming
might scare them off?"

Then there's the stereotypes. Just because his education has been
severely limited (and does Jane ever bring up the idea of getting him
some remedial tutoring? Does she even introduce the concept of verbs?
You'd think he'd have noticed the tell tale signs this woman was _not_
interested in him for his brain. The woman was out to exploit him,
period) he's supposed to be thick as a brick, desperate for more
intelligent people to come along and start using him for their own ends.

Furthermore, he was so densely in love with servitude nothing would have
gotten him out of it. If Blake had had to deal with the Lord of the Apes
instead of the King of Horizon, he'd still be digging radioactive bananas
out of that mine. Vila _might_ have gotten out of it by auditioning for
Cheetah's part, and Avon would have cut a deal with the lion.

Almost? Very well, like I said I didn't get far. I actually do think Neil
Faulker as Avon, going on what info I've got he seems fairly direct and
also... actually I really don't know why.
Ummm for Jenna I had Sally Manton again I'm not sure why but I'm pretty
certain about that one. Steve Dobson was Tarrant, I think that's partly
because his messages are often brief but direct and I was trying to think of
people for Cally and Vila but I got stuck, any ideas?

Neil does have some Avon-like qualities, but thinking about
his entire output, I'd say, closer to Orac. Don't ask why <eg>.

Ellynne does a good Cally. And we have our very own Jacqueline
to play Servalan. Kathryn does a creditable Zen, on occasion, and
I think Judith P. could do a marvelous Kasabi.

Oh, if (she thinks, mentally comparing herself with Blonde, Bright,
Beautiful and Extremely Competent) *only* ... [yet another worry about Life
on the Liberator - do they have clothes for people seriously shorter and
wider than Our Heroines, because me in Jenna's lycra and leather is not a
pretty picture :-( ] Personally, I've always identified most closely with
Jarriere, which is a worry (no, I don't have his nose, though).

Um. Neil/Avon, Sally/Jenna ... the cell scene is Redemption is going to be
interesting, or something ...

OTOH, (mentally running over the requisite scenes in 1st season) can we keep
Gareth as Blake? Please? Pretty please???

Because I'm dark, saturnine, brutally sardonic and an alluring well of
sinister mystery*.

As well as a screwed-up misfit with severe problems relating to people.

Haven't got the nose, though.
