Things would've worked out in such a way that Dr. Plaxton finished the
repairs and got inside in time. After all, he had the Magical Blake Luck,
which malfunctioned much less frequently than Avon's (which seems mainly to
have been negative once he was on his own, poor guy).

Oh, but I like "Voice From The Past" already. No blackmail needed

RE "Headhunter" - I could *swear* there was a "toss the head around as
in a last minute football (er, American football) play" scene in there, but
apparently not. Oh well. Soolin's shoes were *incredibly* impractical but
other than that this was a good episode for her, unlike Vila who lost his
usual instinct for self-preservation for the sake of the plot. Tarrant was
pretty, but then Tarrant's always pretty. Avon was, er, perky enough to
alarm me; I'm really not sure whether perky Avon is more or less happy than
self-controlled Avon. Dayna... was Dayna there?

Yes, this is a good clarification. I definitely meant that he doesn't
have a problem with it on moral grounds. Practical matters are
something else entirely, of course. (I reminded of that exchange
between Avon and Jenna, where he commends her for refusing to run Shadow
because of the danger involved, and she says "That wasn't the reason" in
an IMO somewhat contemptuous tone.)

Which goes right back to the whole convoluted argument I was making in
the "dysfunctional" thread, actually. From a pragmatic,
keeping-your-skin-intact standpoint, things like charging headlong to
"Terminal" are unbelievably idiotic. So, IMO, you're either faced with
believing that Avon occasionally has a brain fart of astonishing
proportions and, for no discernable reason at all, does incredibly dumb
counter-survival things... Or you make the assumption that there is
something human and understandabale -- something emotional -- acting to
cloud his judgment. I *like* the latter intepretation, which is why
"Terminal" is one of my all-time favorite eps, instead of a "pet hate"
for me.
And I'll shut up about this now, really. :)

Well, the very fact that you've offered three interpretations instead of one
proves my point. Avon's real motivation is not in the canon. What have we
got in the canon? He says to Farren that he needs to go back to the
Liberator to collect some things, which tells us nothing. Then, a bit later,
he says about Kayn: 'He sold us all to the Federation', 'us' signifying that
he considers himself again the member of the crew. And this is all. As even
our eloquent Elizabethan would admit, 'the rest is silence'.
This is what makes Avon open to interpretation probably more than any other
B7 character. He is very eloquent whenever he wants to prove to the world
that he's a bastard, but practically turns dumb when he is up to something
that might just denote him as a Good Guy. Which is kind of nice, bearing in
mind there are so many people in real life who do exactly the opposite...

She may plan to do this as soon as she has the Liberator, but until that
moment she's keeping Blake up her sleeve as a prime means to lure Avon in=

I've heard somewhere that Captain Hawkins was initially meant to be Sergeant
Hawkins but the character was upgraded because Darrow's voice was too
educated for a mere sergeant. (Don't know if this is true.)

Hello,
Sorry if this is off-topic- but it is regarding a Terry Nation series. I am
looking for video copies of SURVIVORS! in usa format.
I do not care about the quality as long as the audio and picture quality are
stable and decent. I have Candian versions of Blakes 7 up through season 3
and many of the BBV Who related spin-offs to offer in trade -and I would be
willing to pay for copies if the prices is reasonable. I have heard that the
first season of SURVIVORS was briefly available and now is out of print...

I've not seen too much of Paul's work (the latest stuff I saw was his guest
appearance on Cluedo!) but I'm sure it would be an interesting Doctor!
Every actor brings his own mannerisms to the role anyway and seems to get
some say over the direction the latest Doctor takes, so anything is
possible. I wonder what type of assistants would go well with him?

I know you meant Darrow and not Avon, but I can't help imagining Avon as
the Doctor with Vila as his assitant.
Opening scene: The Doctor is busy repairing or rewiring some part of the
Tardis when his companion, Vila, comes running in. Vila looks like he's
been crawling through muddy ditches in a thornbush field. He's covered
with dirt, disheveled, cut, has torn clothes, etc. and is out of breath.
Vila: Doctor! Doctor! I was captured by Cybermen, shot at by Daleks, and
nearly had my brain eaten by a giant spider!
Doctor: That's nice, Vila. Hand me the sonic screwdriver, would you?
Vila: [hands him the screwdriver] Didn't you hear me screaming?

prioritize.

think I had a big problem?
