GUIDELINES FOR UPLOADING FILES
==============================
(Last update: October 23, 1994)
(Author: Ceci, ceci@lysator.liu.se)

0. Please read these guidelines before you upload any files to the
lysator site of religious and occult files.

1. Policy
1.1 I will take anything that is of interest to the
    Neopagan
    Sufist
    Discordian
    Satanist
    and/or Occult
community in English or Swedish. If you are unsure whether the
document you want to upload fits into these categories, mail me and
ask my opinion.

1.2 Exceptions
a. Files that take large amounts of disk space without being
   particularly attractive.
b. Shareware.

1.3 Other religions
a. For uploading Christian files contact ceder@lysator.liu.se.
b. For uploading Zen Bhuddist files contact cardell@lysator.liu.se.
c. For still other religions contact me at ceci@lysator.liu.se and
we will see what I can arrange.

2. What to do BEFORE uploading:
2.1 For ALL files:
Check out where in the directory structure your file should go _and_
make sure I do not already have a copy. There is a listing of the
directory structure in the file current_files under both the
/pub/religion/neopagan and the /pub/magick directories. The other
directories have less files and are easy to get an over-view of. If
you feel insecure please mail me a description of the file so that I
can check.

2.2 For TEXT files some specific rules apply:
a. They should not contain any characters beside the standard ASCII
ones. Make sure you edit out any
etc. If you cannot do that,
notify me beforehand.
b. They should fit within the standard 80 columns width.

2.3 Mail me:
If you mail me before you upload your files we can sort out any
problems in advance. I particularly encourage you to mail me if the
files you want to upload are:
a. big
b. controversial
c. non-text files (pictures!)
d. or if you want me to create a new directory for them.

3. Uploading:
3.1.1 Connect to FTP.LYSATOR.LIU.SE.
2 Set the connection to binary.
3 Move to /pub/religion/neopagan/Incoming. Please note that you
      cannot read that directory.
4 Upload the files. Most ftp-clients use the 'put' command.
5 If the uploading has been successful you will get a receipt
that says: "XXX bytes transferred." or something like that.

3.2 If you do not succeed
3.2.1 You cannot get a connection
a. Your user name has more than 7 characters. -> Log on with
foo@your.site.edu instead. This is quite common and has to do with
   the ftp-client you are using.
b. Connection refused. -> Try again later or on another day. This is
probably the most common problem. Do not worry, just try again
   later.

3.2.2 Our site refuses the files
If you get an error message there is usually no point in trying again
at once. Instead wait a few hours or a day and then try again. If it
does not work on the second attempt, mail either me or our ftp
administrator at ftp@lysator.liu.se. Often this occurs when we are out
of disk space. If you mail us, we can do something about it.

4. After uploading
Mail me telling me the name of your files and where they should go. If
some of the uploads failed, tell me the names of those too so I can
remove the botched files.
